I feel like my life is that really good friend who blindfolds you and says, ‘Dude, just trust me, it’s gonna be awesome.’ – Evan Rachel Wood
Serendipity is often defined as positive coincidences. I don’t believe in coincidences because for me everything serves a purpose; so I like to define serendipity as an expression of grace – finding something good without looking for it.
Certainly, we’ve all had the feeling of being in the right place at the right time at some point in our life; but what about those moments when we experience “inconveniences”. Have you ever missed the wake-up alarm? Get stuck in traffic? Flat tire? This post is about how to acknowledge the not so obvious serendipitous events. When I experience incidents like those mentioned before, I believe is life taking care of me. In those moments, I just say: “Thank you! You want me here; you are protecting me from something I am not aware of.” For me, they are miracles in disguise.
Everything will unfold as it meant to. Click To TweetI love the way Rumi’s poem “The Guest House” reminds us to surrender to every process in front of us because even when we don’t understand, we simply must trust it will serve a higher purpose. Acknowledge serendipity even in the uncomfortable events. Trust that your life is unfolding with grace for your higher good, even if you can’t see it all. Everything will unfold as it meant to. When you acknowledge this with gratitude, the more “unconcealed” serendipity you will attract in your life. Be a magnet for miracles!
THE GUEST HOUSE
This being human is a guest house.
Every morning a new arrival.
A joy, a depression, a meanness,
some momentary awareness comes
as an unexpected visitor.
Welcome and entertain them all!
Even if they’re a crowd of sorrows,
who violently sweep your house
empty of its furniture,
still, treat each guest honorably.
He may be clearing you out
for some new delight.
The dark thought, the shame, the malice,
meet them at the door laughing,
and invite them in.
Be grateful for whoever comes,
because each has been sent
as a guide from beyond.
(The Essential Rumi, version by Coleman Barks)
